Public Transportation system in College Station is not optimum. But still you can avail the following options.
- Aggie Spirit Bus – This is the official TAMU bus service that goes through almost all the apartment complexes and some groceries (HEB/Target). Usually unavailable during holidays or after office hours. Check the Official Texas A&M University app or the transportation website for exact bus availability
- Brazos Transit District – This is the city wide bus service that is available for free for any TAMU students. This one covers more area than the Aggie Spirit Bus, however, their service is not as frequent as the aggie spirit ones. This bus can be a good way of exploring nearby places since they go almost every corner of the twin cities of Bryan and College Station and beyond. Here is the official website for more details.
- Greyhound – You can avail this service if you want to visit Houston/Dallas or other nearest cities of Texas. Do not expect luxury services like Shohag Classic or Green Line. They will get you from Bryan to Houston. Official website link can be found here
- Ground Shuttle – Ground Shuttle can be a good option if you are coming from Houston/Dallas/Austin airports. Their official website is here.
- Texas Medical College Shuttle – This is a trial program run by TAMU. They offer the ground shuttle service to and from Texas A&M Health Science Center and Houston Medical Center. Their website is here

You will definitely need a bank account as soon as you move in. To open a bank account without the SSN you will need to visit the bank office. We recommend asking any current students about their banks before you open up an account here. They will happily help you and you can give them some referral bonus as well. (You will get some part of it too.)
Some popular banks are –
- Chase Bank
- Wells Fargo
- Bank of America
Mobile Phone
There are three major wireless carrier in USA. AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile. There are other MVNOs (what is mvno?) like Cricket (based on AT&T), Simple Mobile (based on T-Mobile), Lyca (based on T-Mobile) etc. Major carriers provide better network and internet service at higher cost. MVNOs can offer cheaper services. MVNOs sometimes offer free phone calls to Bangladesh too. But the network experiences will suffer. USA is a big continent and they are still struggling to get 4g connection everywhere.
One leeway is that creating a family package of 4/5 people and join any major networks with all of them together. Major carriers offer their family packages at discounted rate. For example T-Mobile single user unlimited connection costs 60$ per month. On the other hand 5 users unlimited connection cost 150$ per month making each person’s per month cost at 30$. You can always join someone else’s family package. Usually any current students will welcome you to their family package.
For calling Bangladeshi phone/mobile numbers you can use services like Skype. Currently they offer 100min for $2.99 or 400min $6.99 per month
